What looks like a Spitfire but sounds......
.... like a Cessna 206 taking off with a full load of parachutists?
A Supermarine Aircraft Spirtfire Mk26, that's what!
I scan the web cam at Glenrothes http://www.taysideaviation.co.uk/flying/webcam.html and Scone http://www.microlights.net/html/summary.html on the look out for something interesting and I got more than I bargained for this morning.
It turns out that the Australian registered 2/3rds scale replica Spitfire was undergoing a check flight before it undergoes its UK Certification.
The Spitfire is built in Australia by the aptly named Supermarine Aircraft Company and the "proper" Vickers Supermarine Spitfire only went up to the mk.25.
I arrived to find an empty apron and in time to see (and hear) it depart. However on return it made a pass down the runway before landing.
Happy as a sand-boy.
