A low to a high
I awoke early and decided to have another bash at night photography at Dundee Airport. I arrived at 0630 hrs with about 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time and started to take some ground shots. Time ran away with me and before I knew it the doors were being closed and it was time to get myself up to the end of the runway for the photo that I had come for.
I was set up with a quick light meter check as the time the Dornier lined up on the runway, it started to roll and nothing. The camera did not work. I'd missed it, my one and only chance and I blew it.
That's twice this has happened to me and to say the air was turning blue was an understatement!
Having broke my own rule about turning up on site with plenty of time I had only myself to blame.
After returning home I decided to give RAF Leuchars a try, the weather was perfect for a trip down the seaward end of the runway. I quickly gutted my car so I could get Fin, the Aviation Wonder Dog into the back of the car.
I parked up at the Kinshaldy beach car park and walked the three miles down the beach to the end of the runway where I was eventually treated to six Dutch AF F16 arrive in line abreast formation before landing.
All in all the best days photography that I have had at Leuchars in a long time.
