It doesn't seem that long ago that Airplane-Pictures.net started up with a few 500pxl images from Edinburgh airport. What amazing changes have taken place on the site in the two years we have been in existence. We now have a fantastic group of photographers contributing amazing images from all...

I'm posting this on the behalf of the AP-crew to keep you up to date with the changes that we are making in the screening process. Previously a screener, who is a full member could open an image for screening and he would have ten minutes to check the information, add any additional...

I met a friend at Scone yesterday who was patiently waiting for the weather to lift in the English Midlands so he could deliver his Robin to it's new owner in the SW of England. To cut a long story short by the time that I had got around to taking a photo of his aircraft, the sun which was...

.... and got my first low-flying picture. Spent all day on the hill, got frozen to the bone, got blasted by a snow shower and only one tonka to show for my efforts. Great, I can't wait to go back again! Please note, going up unto the hills is dangerous, especially in winter...

I've always been keen to try something different and to learn something new so the challenge of HDR photography was right down my street. With digital photography, when we meter on a subject all we do is get the exposure right for the aircraft itself, there is nothing wrong in that except...

As part of the ongoing improving and upgrading of A-P.net we have now increased the size of the images uploaded to 1024pxl on the longest side and sized up tp 500kb. That's not all, because for the protection of your copyright we have also added a watermark. The upload process is simple to...

Patience is a virtue, a worthy motto for a photographer and even more so for an insomniac like me out at 5:30AM to make a 30 mile trip to photograph the departure of the first flight of the day from Dundee to London City. The planning was all in place, the weather report was favourable on the...

I awoke early and decided to have another bash at night photography at Dundee Airport. I arrived at 0630 hrs with about 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time and started to take some ground shots. Time ran away with me and before I knew it the doors were being closed and it was time to get...

Photo screening - the times they are a changing. If I may add something. Check for dust spots before submitting too. I learned that myself by getting into a bit of a hurry to get some photos posted. I was focusing on the airplane only, then getting a rejection for dust spots that were very clearly there. I missed them because I wasn't looking at the whole shot.

I find that the screening process here is fair and way more consistent than on anet.

Thinking differently three times overWallace, I've been dabbling with HDR for a while now, it's amazing and lots of fun too. I haven't quite taken it into the aviation scene yet however but it will only be a matter of time. I'm shooting a lot of industrial stuff and landscapes and it comes in vey handy. Great article btw.
