I am going to publish some tips here for sharpening your images. I will cover several techniques that are available. The first is a link to a workflow that is pretty simple and can help with jagged edges.

I edited your post to make the URL into a link, just add a either side of the web address.
Interesting tutorial, although the black cheat line to the right of the emergency exit is far from perfect.
For me, this it the ultimate resource for sharpening. http://www.ronbigelow.com/articles/sharpen1/sharpen1.htm It does not have things with wings but it does tell you about sharpening and my own personal favourite, high pass filter sharpening. Incidentally the Adobe CC Photoshop and Lightroom subscription deal is still ongoing great value for £8.78 per month https://creative.adobe.com/plans/offer/photoshop+lightroom?store_code=gb&locale=en |

Angelo, read the Read Forums FAQ, I can't type the PHP code into this post to explain what's necessary.
The great thing about the Alpha Channel sharpening and High Pass is you are sharpening the Luminosity and not the colours in the picture, that's where you get the noise and the colour bleed from. Jid's tutorial is the same, sharpening the luminosity and not the colour. The blue channel carries the most noise and is not recommended.
Although these tutorials seem long drawn out when compared to selecting, Sharpen, Filter, Unsharp Mask. As Jid demonstrated, the real clever way to do it it to build an Action, to do all these steps for you in an instant.
It seems to go against established beliefs but you can apply sharpening on RAW conversion, this is called sharpening for output, where the sharpening counters the action of the anti-alias filter in front of your camera sensor. The Masking slider works exactly the same way as edge sharpening and is more selectable than a straight Photoshop action This post has been edited by Wallace Shackleton on 24th February 2014 - 23:42 Attached photos: |
