Wondering if anyone is heading to Dublin this week to see the arrival (or departure) of the 787? I'll be going down on Friday to catch the departure as it's at a more reasonable hour (3:00pm) than it's arrival (9:00pm).

Ryanair want £177.61 for a day trip from EDI. I'm off that day but don't think I bother at that price!

I live around 100 miles from Dublin and it'll cost me approx £30 for the day :)

Well traveled down to Dublin and the sun shone early on, then as the time got closer to departure time (3pm) it started to cloud over and rained a bit. Then the cloud started to clear but the sun was still behind them. The Dreamliner departed at 3 in dull, overcast and windy conditions. If it had only waited another 30 seconds it would have taken off in glorious sunshine.

Ah well. Didn't get anything I can upload but here's a few from today

I am sorry the weather wasn't great, the sun would have made the difference. It looks like the Dreamliner took of really quickly. Was it empty?

Hi Martin,

yes it did take off very quickly suggesting that it probably was empty. We had watched other take-offs for 4 hours beforehand and sort of worked out an average rotation point and positioned ourselves where we thought would be best to capture it. Unfortunately the Dreamliner took off earlier and was at quite a few hundred feet as it passed us. Looked like it went up an angle of nearly 45 degrees. But hey, still got to see it :)

Video of the takeoff - you have to wind it on a bit to see the departure but it will give you an idea of how steep the climb was.
