This has been one of the great aircraft in aviation's history, but quietly understated. it's sheer versatility and reliabilty as an airline workhorse for 30 years, it's elegant looks and sheer power from it's Rolls Royce engines give it a unique place amonst it's rivals. Lastly the 757 has flown me thousands of miles since 1987 including the shortest take-off ever from Glasgow to the fastest from the Greek island of Skiathos - an awsome aircraft which should continue flying in cargo configuration for many years to come. Happy 30th 757! This post has been edited by Mark Andrew on 20th February 2012 - 22:58 |

True Mark, it´s understated indeed. Its sleek look and design give it avery pleasant appereance. I allways like it head on or 3/4 head on. High on its landing gear and a slightly bended nose (it looks like that anyways) it reminds me a bit of the concord...hopefully she will stay with us for years to come. |

Menno, Yes, that view you mentioned; just off head on is superb. I was fortunate enough to board one last September and walked to it across the tarmac with just that view; splendid indeed. I wonder if that may be the last 757 I will fly on. Hopefully not as Thomson are still a major operator of the type. |

Hope so too Mark, and we didn´t even mention the great Vortices this beuaty creates! sadly enough we don´t get much 757´s at EHAM. As far as my knowledge goes, it´s only Iceland air and once in a while a Cabo verde or Continental.... |

Still enough around at LHR and particularly LGW. Not sure when Thomson will be replacing theirs - with 737s I think? Got some great shots in Greece last year of several of the type. I may try and get round to posting them; i'm talking close, real close to end of runway! Bye for now |

Delta still operates a ton of 757's. I think we may see them for a long time to come. At least I hope we do. |

Oh yes, a huge number. I suspect they will be around for a while. They are still be the best aircraft for certain routes as long as the load factors are good. we're flying on one with UK airlineThomas Cook in August. I notice they still have a reasonable size fleet. |
