Hi, today while spotting at Barajas I took this photo.

In it you can see a sign saying caution, and a Finnair A321 above it.

Could this be accepted?

You can but try.

I would suggest two things, it may be worth translating what some of the signs mean or imply and the dust spots MUST be cloned out.

Hi, I uploaded it, and it was rejected because the sign was clipped.

What does this mean?

I think (but I can be wrong) it could mean that the whites are above the maximum amount which results in a loss of details in this particular area.

You perhaps pushed the whites too much to the right ...

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind.

I'm going to try and edit it again.

"Clipped" is screeners slang for the whites (on the sign) being over exposed and showing as a peak at the far right of a histogram either that or the bottom of the sign has been clipped off.

If this is the same picture that you uploaded then the whites on the histogram are not clipped, they are in the 200 region of the histogram if anything a little under exposed, there are some reds that are clipped but that should not be easily seen, so I can only assume that they screen is referring the the bottom part of the sign being missing.

Have you appealed the decision?

If you do not understand the reason then it costs nothing to officially ask why.

EDIT: The photo I posted originally was the one rejected.

I appealed, and I'm waiting for a response.

Let's see what happens!

This is a quick and dirty edit and the reds are still slightly over saturated / sharpened and I removed seven dust spots, just by eye so there may be more. The main thing was to the raise the white level with the Levels Palate to increase the contrast.

To be honest I would have rejected this. The sign has nothing to do with aviation, it appears to be just a normal construction site safety board.

So, do you think I should reupload it after editing the image again?

While I appreciate that this is the photo you planned - you focused on the sign and waited for the aircraft to pass in the background. I just see this as no different to taking a photo of a rock sitting on the ground with the aircraft out of focus in the background. I can't see the reasoning behind it, there's no story. Had the sign been something that was aviation related, even a road side sign showing directions to the airport then it would be more acceptable in my eyes.

Si, your Spanish is better than mine Michael. I thought it was airport related. You made some good points there.

Yep, son señales de construcción ;-)

Thanks for your responses!
