Will LCY ever be expanded?

Will they ever be allowed to expand lcy?

Someone might as well make a reply to this.

Short answer ? No. There is no space for a runway extension at either end. A crossing road bridge and the river Thames blocks off the eastern end and the proximity of well established buildings and another road bridge on the western end block that idea as well.

About the only possible expansion might possibly be a heliport on the northern side across the water from the main runway. The current Westland Heliport in Wandsworth has limited pad availability and no parking ramp. I would imagine that the proximity to the business areas of London could make that idea a possibility.

During the Red Bull Air Races a short temporary runway was established there for the competitors.
