Hi guys,
I've put together this chart ... hopefully it will help you decide which telephoto/zoom lens focal length to use for aviation photography at airports. Longer the focal length, (for a given aperture), narrower the "angle of view". This determines the optimum distance over which your telephoto zoom lens (or wide-angle prime and vice versa) is useful. I've assumed a full frame sensor ... but you can easily convert everything to a crop sensor range by multiplying the nominal focal length of your lens by the stated crop factor. Attached photos: |
