Hello! I'm thinking of buying the Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS USM and put a Canon 2x extender ii to use with my Canon 60D. This would give me a focal lenght of 960mm. Do you think the image quality will be good or if someone have used this combo please let me know what you think!
Best Regards |

I used Nikon TC 2 with 300 mm fixed glas some time ago . I would never to nobody recommend to use TC 2 because of increasaing F, AF hunting in low light conditions, resolution decreasing. Especialy resolution was disappoitment for me.I would recommend max TC 1,4 ( and using it) |

I have and use canon 2x ext and it works in daylight with my 70-200 just fine. Not recommending it for low light conditions!. I also consider that is better to purchace canon 100-400 so you have variety of focal lenghts and it's a an excellent lense. Since 60D is apsc sensor it'll be 1.4 more to this numbers. You don't need prime lense IMO for spotting unless you have an extra money to spend |

The Canon 300mm F4L prime lens combined with a Canon 2x extender will not autofocus on your 60D body as the max aperture will be F8. Such combination will only focus on higher end bodies such as the 5D mkiii and 7D mkii. Focusing and image quality will likely be greatly compromised.
If you are looking at cheaper methods to reach 600mm, the Tamron and Sigma 150-600mm's may be what you are after and will produce very good results at 600mm on your 60D. |
