What does 'clipped shadows' mean?

Hello dear spotters!

I'm not really sure, why one of my last pics got rejected. The reason was:

'Clipped shadows. Shadows need elevation.'

I don't really understand what the screener meant.

Kind regards

Dilan

Hi Dilan !

That simply means there's shadows in your photo that are darker than they should be, to check them, open your photo in Camera RAW, in the top right hand corner of Camera RAW's window you'll find a histograms box (square), in each top right & left hand corner of it there's an arrow you should click on to see repectively the clipped highlights (red) & clipped shadows (blue) in your photo.

Hope this helps !

Regards.
