Exposure issues !!

Hi dears,

Since joining AP, the major reason for my photos rejections is "exposure issues"; here some recent samples:

1 - http://www.airplane-pictures.net/images/rejected-images/2016-9/775475.jpg

Reason for rejection: Incorrect exposure - too light.

2 - http://www.airplane-pictures.net/images/rejected-images/2016-9/775887.jpg

Reason for rejection: Photo needs counter-clockwise rotation. Main object is improperly lit.

I guess I've heard somewhere that there's ways to know if levels of the light on a photo are correct/acceptable only by knowing the use of Levels/Curves.

Any helpful tips are welcome.

Greetings.

To chek clipping ( overexposed or underexposed parts of picure) in PS do following. Choose Image, Adjustement,Levels,ALT + dragg LEFT slider under Histogram ( Shadows) or ALT+ dragg RIGHT slider ( Highlights) and you immediately see in the picture what parts and where are under or overexposed and you are able evaluate if it is accepatble. Corrections are possible if you are shooting in RAW. If in JPEG ,no corrections concernig exposition are possible. Tha why I alwys shotting in RAW.

Before converting RAW to TIFF i always use in RAW converter, Basic, Function AUTO, which helps to set exposure.

Concerning lit, try always to have sun in your back if possible.

Thanks Igor, I appreciate your help and advices.

I shoot always in (RAW+JPEG), and I work only with the RAW file, I work with Ps CC 2015 only so I guess there's no need for RAW Converter for me. I use "Dehaze" and some exposure corrections if needed and I check of course the chromatic aberration remove & lens corrextion boxes and I open to work the rest with Nik Collection.

I don't know what TIFF means, it may appear funny but I'm just a beginner in photography.

Greetings

Âaziz.

Concerning TIFF see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TIFF. I use this format when printing something on paper. There is much less ( if any) compresion then in JPEG
