Wide Angle For Shooting Through Fence

Hello,

I currently have a Tamron 17-50mm f2.8, very nice lens, perfect for everything... except shooting through fence.

I keep stressing about this, but deicing season is coming up soon, and I'm looking for a good wide angle lens, that's not a prime, to shoot with. Problem with this lens is its too big and won't shoot in between the holes without getting annoying fence in the photo, which is impossible to crop out. Last year I used my 18-55mm which had a perfect filter size for the deicing pads up close. But I sold that lens with my other body last year. At my current state, my only option would be to buy an 18-55, which I really really really don't wanna do...

So... any suggestions?

I shoot with Nikon d7200

Haha. Nice. Let's see how security will deal with me on a fence, at night, over a 10ft fence...

"I use a stepladder"

Would that be with a Canon or Nikon mount?
