How do you prevent this? It happens on some shots but not others of the same aircraft, same angle etc.

Tx so much

Hi Ken,

I'm not an expert but, JPEG "compression/bandings in the sky" could happen for many reasons: the use of excessive denoise in the sky, overprocessing of the sky & maybe methods/parameters of resizing as discussed in the forum some days ago (you can find it in the forum below).

If I'm not wrong, you're a fan of HDR as I am ^-^ make sure to keep apart the sky if it's not cloudy from the effects.

You have some good pictures btw.

Kind regards.

Tx for responding Youssef.

I actually don't use HDR, but I think separating the sky is a necessity. What I was trying to understand is that similar photos taken seconds apart often have very different post processing results.

Anyway, tx for the comments and the kind words about my photos. I enjoy yours as well.

Best
