Hi all,

I just received a photo request but i don't know how to deal with it.

This is the request,

Hi Dion I manage the Travel, Tourism and Events teaching section of a government-funded, non-profit training organisation in Sydney, Australia. I am asking for some photos to display on our TV monitor in the student common area in a Powerpoint loop. Your photographs will be shown alongside student project/events images, images of Australia courtesy of Tourism Australia and Destination NSW and anything that identifies the nature of our training environment. I personally like aircraft and this photo is excellent although we welcome others if you are happy to share them. Thank you Steve.

And comments and tips about pricing and size are very welcome,

Thanks in advance.

Dion Vercoulen ;)

Hi Dion,

refer to this page for a guide on what to charge

http://www.airplane-pictures.net/licensing-guide.php

Personally for a Powerpoint I wouldn't send a full size image but something around 1600px.

I would just send him a 1600px version of the photo and that's it (or maybe ask for your name to be included). As he says, it's a non-profit organization and it will only be used for display on a monitor. I wouldn't make such a big deal out of it.

Yes it's a non-profit making organisation but not a charity. If they want to use the image let them pay for it.

I've send the picture to them with a small watermark on the left bottom.

They didn't pay for it so that's why i've send it with a ©.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Me too-they want 4 pics. When I quoted a price from the licencing guide (http://www.airplane-pictures.net/licensing-guide.php) communications stopped. I didn't bother chasing it up.

Sometimes there is more to be gained from giving your photos away than for monetary gain. I have made many friends and contacts though my photos in the GA community had I been motivated by financial gain.

However, I don't mind asking for payment, if the photo is for commercial purposes.

I guess he has been working on this catalogue for months then. A friend of mine received the same request a few months ago. Same story.

I have given away photos for personal use and all, but sometimes we are just way too certain there is something wrong with the request.
