May is certainly the month for moths, four more today including this one. I saw the sepia toned picture as I squeezed the shutter button.
The aircraft is kicking up some "stoor" (dust) or in this case grass clippings. The gentleman on the wing is assisting with the turns.

Brilliant interpretation, Wallace. Looks like it was taken in 1930 when this aircraft was
"born".

Nice shot wallace! Just came upon your site while brousing. Looks a bit like a shot my
father took in the 60's while the plane was at Tarrant Rushton.
We had just
refuelled at Perth and were on the way to Kirkwall to celeberate the 75th anniversay of
Highland Airways being formed by Capt EE Fresson. As you say the chap iss walking the wing
because the aircraft is basically out of control down wind. It has no brakes and unlike
the Tiger it has a fixed tailskid. Handles a bit like a Tesco shopping trolley! We made it
up to the Orkneys OK amidst some fantastic weather and received quite a reception as this
is an original Highland Airways aircraft!
