Caribbean Airlines overran runway at Cheddi Jagan International airport outside Georgetown July 30, 2011 just past midnight. The packed Caribbean Airlines jet carrying 157 passengers and 6 crew, overran Georgetown's runway 06 by about 100 meters. The front of the plane snapped off and it stopped meters from a deep jungle ravine.
The aircraft performed a flight from New York JFK via Port of Spain (Trinidad and Tobago). Seven people were taken to hospitals, two passengers suffered serious injuries (leg fractures).
