Airshows
New Zealand
Classics of the Sky was held at Tauranga Airport on 28-29 January 2012. Hosted by Classic Flyers Museum this was an outstanding and must see show on the New Zealand circuit. A full two days of flying displays and a practice day on Friday. One of the biggest attractions was the Hawker Hunter ex Singapore Air Force flown by Dave Philips and a master at displaying this aircraft. He also displays the Tiger moth and a real joy to watch for all ages. The Warbirds from Ardmore were present and as always gave a fantastic display. The Dc 3 from Ardmore was busy taking passengers for rides out to see the Rena wreck and a good tour of the Bay of Plenty. Several other jets were present and also gave excellent displays. Many thanks go to all the volunteers and to the crews and pilots taking part to make this show such a success. Roll on 2014 for the next one.
