Privately owned training jet L-29 Delfín, registration OK-ATS, crashed during a pleasure flight at 2PM CET today. The aircraft crash landed just 300 metres from the Zatec grass runway. Witnesses saw the aircraft crashed, broke into pieces and caught fire.
The pilot died shortly after the crash, the passenger was transported to the hospital where she died several hours later.
The L-29 Delfin is a Czechoslovak training jet designed in 60s. More than three thousand aicraft were built and most of them were exported. The OK-ATS aircraft was operated by Aviation Technologies and Services company under the Czech Jet Team brand from a grass strip in Zatec.
