After a lengthy period of restoration this wonderfull machine makes it's "first" flight at Ardmore in New Zealand. Colin Hunter was there to record the event.
This particular airframe was named "Marion" in 1942 after it's first pilot's girlfriend. It spent time with both the RAF and the USAAF being credited for damaging two and destroying one Fw190's. In 1943 it was transferred to the Royal Navy where it served for a few years before being decommissioned. It eventually re-appeared on a farm in Cornwall and was shipped to Australia to be rebuilt. Another period of decay followed and it was finally returned to air worthiness in September 2007 after being reassembled in New Zealand.
