A China Airlines Cargo Boeing 747-400, registration B-18717 performing freight flight from New York JFK to Seattle, overran runway by about 100 feet/30 meters on November 22nd. The aircraft was landing on Seattle's runway 34L (length 2591 meters/8500 feet) in low visibility, light snowfall, temperatures below freezing. The airplane came to a stop on the paved surface of the runway end safety area . No injuries and no damage occurred, a number of aircraft needed to go around.
The airplane needed to be pushed back onto the runway, then taxied to the apron on its own power.
The aircraft landed on the shortest runway - 34C is 2873 meters/9426 feet, runway 34R 3627 meters/11900 feet long.
