All flights to and from Greece will be cancelled on December 15th as the country holds a 24-hour general strike.
Greek public and private sector unions are planning a walkout at midnight tonight which will include air traffic controller workers and port workers. The Foreign Office said in a statement: “There will be no flights to or from any Greek airport. Passengers are advised to contact the airline they are travelling with for further information.”
British Airways has cancelled all flights to Athens and is offering affected customers refunds or rebookings.
Cyprus Airways has announced that all flights to and from the country have been cancelled as from midnight on Tuesday night.
Abu Dhabi-based Etihad Airways has also been forced to cancel all flights to Athens on Wednesday as Athens International Airport. Dubai’s Emirates Airline, Bahrain’s Gulf Air and Doha-based Qatar Airways who also fly scheduled flights to Athens and will be affected by Wednesday’s strike action.
