After disbandment of 111(F) Squadron the first batch of four Tornados F3 left Leuchars for RAF Leeming where they will be dismantled for spare parts. The next batch of four aircraft will leave Leuchars on 25th March with the last two on 28th. 111 (Fighter) Squadron is being disbanded after 94 years serving the Royal Air Force.
Tornados F3 have guarded UK airspace by maintaining Leuchars' Quick Reaction Alert (QRA) mission. The aircraft are being phased out to make way for the Typhoon force ( 6 Squadron will take post).
First four aircraft that left Leuchars were ZE791, ZE734, ZE342 and ZE168.
