The Ilyushin Il-76 of Silk Way Airlines (reg. 4K-AZ55) shown on photos below crashed earlier today in Afghan mountains when approaching the Bagram military airport, near Kabul, shortly after midnight. The plane was found in flames later.
The plane was only 6 years old and in good condition, pilots reported no critical or disturbing circumstances prior to the unfortunate accident. No one of the crew (total 9 people aboard of this cargo flight from Baku to Bagram) is known to survive.
Details under investigation. One of the possible causes being investigated is a collision with another flying object.
Azerbaijan's Silk Way Airlines (http://www.silkway-airlines....) is a privately owned company specialized in cargo / freight services, operating for about 10 years on the market now. Their flights are handled by 9x Ilyushin Il-76, 3x Antonov An-12 and 1x Boeing 747-400F.
