It was actually used as a television network mascot. Too bad they painted over the
passenger windows....Would also like to see a full frame shot.

PS..clicked on the reg. Appears to be an ex-United Airliners series 6. Would be great to
see it in the mainliner scheme again.

This is not really a paint job but a very large decal that covered only half of the
fuselage. The decal is like a thin plastic layer sort of like the old Kolorforms toys we
had. The decal is off now but the Caravelle is scheduled to be scrapped soon. I have
salvaged most of the panel instruments but since they are 1961 vintage, do not hold much
value. I would be happy to get them in someone's hands that would appreciate them for
sentimental reasons. It's a beautiful airplane. Top speed Vne was only 300KTS!

Hi Mike,
Thanks for the info on the plane's future. I guess it's sad to see another
piece of history disapear. It may have been very costly to even imagine restoring it. I
learned to fly at VNY years ago, and remember many makes and models of planes were to be
seen there.
I have always been partial to the planes that were not built in the US,
while the designs are now dated, they did have a futuristic nature about them, conjuring
up images of travel an holidays to far away places.
I found a short video on
Youtube showing the wrapping of the plane's latest colors, along with an article of the
designers of the scheme. Quite interesting.
As far as the panel instruments, it would
be great to have part of this plane that will no longer exist. Something like that would
have a nice home here on the shelf with a photo of the plane.
Thanks again for
the message here, I found the site just this morning.
Take care, Gary Rabbitt.

French and former aviation specialist, I had a loving affair with Caravelle. N98KT was the
last flying Caravelle, and I'd loved to get part of the instruments... Mike, I would pay
for the shipment...

This plane was actually owned by the Kearney & Trecker Corp. hence the KT. It was the
corporate plane when K&T was at the high of the CNC machining center world. K&T was bought
out by Giddings & Lewis (late 80's) and was then sold (G&L) to a European firm. K&T
Milwaukee Matics where the Cadillacs of the CNC world.
