Il-2 is alive again and in flight after 67 years break. 'Winged Memory of Victory' Foundation after the six years works has restored authentic Il-2. Il-2 was the mostly produced plane ever - 36.183 were built and they had played one of the key roles in USSR victory in WWII.

You're wrong "tovarishch" - Il-2 got third place after Cessna 172 (43.000+ and still in
production) and Polikarpov Po-2 (40.000+).
But, I'm so happy to see this bird - my
father flu on it in 1947 for Polish Air Force.

A remarkable plane. The A-10 of its day. The front and undersides were made of armoured
steel and it was said that it was easier to scrap the plane than to change the engine...
such was the short life expectancy of the aircraft. The main undercarriage was made to
support a bomber rather than a fighter.
