A strange line over the moon, as it is spliced together from two different photos
2 Masaya Tsuruta
(8 May 2015 - 09:49 CET)
It's fluctuation of the air.

Alan, I was shooting the same photo from 10meters away from Masaya. Please tale a look at
mine and you would see the same line over the moon. This might be caused by the heat of
jet engines.
by anti-spam function I can not show URL but everyone can see mine by

Yumihiko you're right, it is are very strange phenomenon

Nice photo! Guys, this is not a strange phenomenon, the line you see is actually there all
the time but you can't always see it. Because it is only noticeable when there is a
strong contrast or pattern visible in the background, for example the moon or a sunset
with lots of cloudlayers. It is a result of induced drag created by the under and
overpressure of the wings which leads to the tip and comes together to form a spiral. This
effect can be understood the same as vortex, which IS visible most of the time when the
humidity is very high.
