Photographer's remark

The old and the no so old. Both were cutting edge airliners in their day. Me I'd rather have the howl of four Conways any day.
History from Flightline.
* Delivered to BOAC on 22nd September 1960, serial no 17711, registration code G-APFJ
* G-APFJ built by Boeing to BOAC requirements, the specification designated a 707-436
* Fitted with Rolls-Royce Conway Mk 508 turbofan engines instead of Pratt & Whitney JT3s
* G-APFJ leased to Malaysian Airline System in 1974
* Incorporated into the British European Airways (BEA) Airtours division in 1974
* Retired from commercial service in May 1977
* Flew to RAF Cosford on 11th June 1981
* Airframe broken-up at RAF Cosford, April-May 2006
* Prior to destruction, the UK's only preserved Rolls-Royce Conway-powered 707
* Forward fuselage donated to the Museum of Flight in Scotland

On the face of it a simple shot but look deeper and there is a story to be told. Super.

I worked on this one and many more at B.O.A.C. in the early 1970's but then moved on to
the B747.
