Up-close with the Mighty Airbus A340-600 during sunset. This airframe was delivered to Etihad Airways in August 2009 and she flew for EY until she was withdrawn from use on 30th September 2017 (less than a month after this photo was taken.) I'm always fascinated by the unique design and sheer length of the A340-600 and spotting one from up-close was another tick off my bucket list. Sadly, these quad jets are being retired quickly all over the world because of their high fuel consumption. Etihad has replaced all of its A340s with the newer, fuel efficient Boeing 787s and Airbus A350s. This airframe currently operates for European Cargo Airlines as 9H-PGS.
