Sad to know, but this airplane crashed during an airshow on April 2nd of 2010, killing
Captain Anderson Amaro Fernandes.

I would agree, it was a very sad accident. The video is quite shocking, we must all
remember the risks involved in these displays!

I have flown a Wilga once, its got some interesting quirks, but it performs like an
animal, short field, soft field are amazing. I would love to put one on floats. This is
an incredible plane, built for the bush like no other, cheap to maintain, lots of parts,
prices are good, really good, this plane would, if made here cost you easily 4x what you
will pay for it. The engine is rock solid and costs half what a lycoming would run for a
rebuild.

My first IL62 flight was in 1977 from Colombo to London via Moscow. I was 11 years age and
remember this flight very well. A memorable event.
