Great shot, DJ. Love the movement in the clouds and the clarity of the lights.

Hi, I was the pilot on 14 and 15 September 2007. Flew in from Sherburn-in-Elmett,
Yorkshire. Was supposed to be there for the BBQ and flyin but had to escape back to
Sherburn due to weather closing in from the west, especially since both radios had failed
on the flight up there.
Recognised all my junk on the back shelf ;-)

Think I\'ll stick to driving to Fly-ins! Certainly, an \"outside the box\" shot,
Wallace.

After relook it, I have to recognize wit humility that I like a lot the propeller\'s
\"tiger aspect\" originated by the oil traces coming from governor.

Nice shot. The combustion flames are very well visible and the vapor trail stretches the
action horizontally. Well done.

If the faded 761 side number is correct, my log book suggests I last flew this Gannet on
July 5th 1968. What\'s being done with her? She looks in need of a good dose of
TLC.
I flew with 849 Squadron (the Royal Navy\'s Airborne early Warning Squadron)
from \'64 to \'68 and enjoyed the AEW3, AS4 and T5 Gannets. Ugly as sin, pleasant to
fly and a joy to deck-land.
Photographer\'s remark is not entirely correct. This
was NOT an experimental aircraft, there were 44 in frontline service in the 60\'s and
70\'s and it was principally an AEW aircraft (ie: a small shipborne AWACS). The earlier
AS4 was the Anti-sub aircraft and is nicely illustrated in Wikipedia.
Anyway, nice
to see her, hope to see other comments by others who knew the aircraft.
