Aircraft at Auckland Airport

Been spotting at Auckland recently and I have noticed a large number of Air New Zealand Aircraft on the ground not aircraft that had arrived and were flying out, aircraft that were not flying at all, as in hangars. Anybody know why? I counted 4 NZ 737's and 2 747's and an old Qantas 737 which is being repainted into another lively. Are they facing retirement or are they booked in for maintenance. I also saw 2 white 737's at the cargo ramp. Any help would be nice. Just curios that's all.
