Hi all,

I will be spending some time spotting at CDG. I will be staying in central Paris so I will not rent a car, are there any good places where I can get some decent shots of heavies taking off and landing? Possibly getting there with public transport.

Thanks in advance,

Mark Paul Brockdorff

Hi Mark Paul,

Never been spotting to CDG myself, outside of the terminals that is. But, for as far as I am aware, they have a pretty strict photography ban (with fines!) and you'll need a permit to be allowed taking photos in the area.

From what I read on fora, it could take a week or 2 to get the permit in the mailbox at home.

I have applied for the permit, since I read about it. But I really need info about how to get to spotting places for where heavies take off and land :)

Coming back to this topic - do I need to issue my letter for the "spotter pass" in English or in French, does anyone know?

Thank you :) Should it be any kind of a special text? What should it include?

Mark, for touch downs and take offs I would strongly recommend car hire! Some of the spots will take ages to walk to!!!

I applied for my pass in English, wasn't a problem, didn't need to be written in French
