Zhivkov's Tupolev flies to pastures new

The last Bulgarian owned Tupolev on the way to its last flight from Sofia, Bulgaria. The ex dictator Todor Zhivkov plane was bought (for aprox 350 thousend US dollars) resently by a private bussinesman and its on its way to its birth place in Russia (KUF/UWWW - Kurumoch International Airport) to visit the factory that gave birth to this amazing plane. The interior will be replaced and the plane will be fully serviced. Probably the plane will loose its registration which stands for LZ-Bulgaria Todor Zivkov (LZ-BTZ). Its brother LZ-BTJ (a Tu-154B model) was submerged resently in Varna port to become an underwater attraction. 7.5 million euro control tower in Sofia started operations

The new control tower of Sofia airport (LBSF - Bulgaria) started operations. The 7.5 million euro project was completed for almost 2 years and it started operation this week. The project was fully funded by the Bulgarian air traffic authority (Bulatsa).The tower is located near the new Terminal 2 of the airport. Compared to the old tower, located at the old Terminal 1, the new one is two times taller and can provide visual access to all areas of the airport. Aeroflot Airbus A320 VQ-BEH
