4th January 2:42PM Airbus A310 on the route Copenhagen - Tehran stops for fuel.
Western Petroleum Companies are tightening taps for Iranian aircraft, as a result, the national carrier Iran Air is looking for other places can still buy fuel.
Since July this year, some European fuel suppliers joined the U.S. embargo commenced in connection with Iran's nuclear program. This resulted in termination of contracts with Iran and the Iran Air planes at most Western European airports.
The situation was so complicated that the European Commission has banned entry of Boeing 747 into EU airspace, which would be able to return to Iran without refueling.
Airbus A310 and A300 aircraft are allowed to fly to Europe, but the return flights to Western destinations are on the edge of range without filling up and only when not fully loaded.
As a result, Iran air modified the schedule and stops for fuel at Hamburg when flying from London to Tehran, a flight from Copenhagen stops in Vienna, as well as flights from Amsterdam and Gothenburg.
Iran Air had had a contract with the Austrian OMV and the French Total, but it ended in December 2010 as a result of US pressure.
Iranian Foreign Minister had to cancel a visit to Netherlands in November, it was not guaranteed that the Iranian plane would be refuelled at Amsterdam Schiphol airport.
Iran Air uses the services of Lukoil, the Russian company that does not follow US recommendations.Iran Air first visit to Prague for fuel was on 31st December.
