This helicopter is on contract to the British Columbia Ministry of Forests as a full time wildfire fire fighting machine. These 5 member crews dispatch to lightning strike fires or other hard to reach places with self contained equipment bundles containing pumps, fuel, hose and fire fighting gear. The pilot flies, the crew chief handles the winching conducting equipment drops and pick-ups as well as the crew offloads. The three ground crew are responsible for the initial attack on the fire. The crew rappel down from the helicopters from up to 200 ft or so above the ground. If the fire is to big to handle they can cut a landing zone for other helicopters to bring in more ground crews to fight the fires. The helicopter can then begin dropping water on the fires from the large belly tank or hover and fill collapsible reservoirs on the ground for the fire crew to use fighting the fire. The tower behind is used for the crew's rappelling training and certification.
