Photographer's remark
(9.5.2008, 21:51 CET)
This is the actual aircraft that Captain EE Fresson flew when he started Highland Airways to Orkney in 1931.
Note the pilot in the cockpit, his left hand is outside the cockpit where it can be seen by the man closing the engine cowling.
This time honoured practice ensures that the pilot's hand is not touching the Mag switches and so the engine can not be started when turning over the engine. The Gypsy engine is an inverted in-line engine so oil collects at the bottom of the engine, which if allowed to accumulate could blow the cylinder heads off then engine if turned over wrongly.
