My first-ever encounter with the ALH Dhruv! The Advanced Light Helicopter (ALH) Mk.III Dhruv is an indigenously designed and developed chopper by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL). It is a twin-engine, multi-role, multi-mission new-generation helicopter in the 5.5-ton weight class. On 19th April 2021, the Indian Navy commissioned its newest aircraft squadron INAS 323 “Harriers”. The squadron is equipped with these state-of-the-art helicopters. The ALH Mk.III is powered by 2x Shakti (Safran Ardiden 1H1) engines. The helicopter also features an Electronic Warfare Suite, Electro-Optical pod, Counter Measure Dispensing system, Infrared Suppressor, Health & Usage Monitoring System, a full Glass cockpit, TrakkaBeam A800 High-intensity Searchlight, and Automatic Deployable Emergency Locator Transmitter (ADELT). For decades, Westland Sea King Mk.42C was the preferred mount for the Indian Marine Commandos (MARCOS), but now the ALH Mk.III can also be used to perform commando missions. IN716 is seen here arriving at the Gateway of India, Mumbai during sunset for the Indian Navy Day Rehearsals. Check out the video of these ALH Mk.IIIs in action in 4K - https://youtu.be/GeDE4ZSs3fc
