Richard Seeley’s 1936 Whitney Straight is seen here returning to the Mission Aviation Fellowship charity fly-in at Croft Farm. It was designed by George Miles and built by Phillips & Powis Aircraft (founders of Miles Aircraft) at Woodley, Reading, in 1936 (the company wasn’t known as Miles Aircraft until 1943). Fifty Whitney Straights were built; they were named after American-born aviator and racing driver Air Cdre Miles Willard Whitney Straight.
