Imported to Britain in 1977 as G-BFIR, this Anson has been in the ownership of Air Atlantique since 1998. It has been resotred in the colurs of an RAF training aircraft dating from the 1950s. The Anson remained in service with the RAF as a transport aircraft (its last powered type to be made of wood and fabric) until 1968, a 32-year career that seemed impossibly long at the time – how things change; the Hercules has been in service 60 years and the RAF’s Hawk T.1s are still going strong after 39 years.
