From Wikipedia, "The PIK-16 Vasama (or Arrow) was designed by Tuomo Tervo, Jorma Jalkenen and Kurt Hedström. A PIK-16C took third place in the Standard Class in the World Gliding Championships in 1963. It was put into series production by KK Lehtovaara O/Y who built 56. Designed in 1959, first prototype flew in 1961" This one was number 48 with the BGA code CGV

Great shot. I'm the daughter of Vasama's head designer Tuomo Tervo and am thrilled to
see that this plane is still being used for aviation! My dad passed away in 1986 but would
be thrilled to see that the fruits of his labor are still giving people pleasure today, 47
years after the plane was designed.

I am the owner of the Vasama pictured. It s still flying and can be seen at the
Northumbria Gliding Club in the North East of England. (July, 2015.)
