"Lucille" and "Mariah" are ready to launch for another day in the fire and smoke of the wildfires they are fighting. Coffee for the pilots and last minute checks for the ground crews and then they were off.

Thanks guys. I just love these old girls. When they fly over together in the the heavy
smoke with their landing gear and snorkels hanging down they look like those long leg mud
wasps. Very cool machines. One of the pilots texted me on one of worst days saying
"Fires of all kinds in every direction. Smoke is thick enough to snuff out life. I hope
tomorrow is better." It is a hard job they do. So much appreciated. In this shot
"Mariah" is spooled up to full power and is ready to lift off. Fire command asked
"Lucille" to head out a few minutes later for some reason that morning. They normally fly
together as a team.

Thanks for the info, unfortunately some of these fires are started deliberately !
