Hi! I just bought the Canon 70-200mm f/4L USM (no IS) to use with my Canon EOS 550D. Does someone have any experience with this lens because i am very excited to use it and hope it will be a great lens for aviation photography! :)

Hi,

I bought it 3 years ago and I won't give it away for sure! Maybe 200mm are a bit short for planespotting, except you are close to the object. It's sharp from 70 to 200mm, even at f4. F2.8 would be better, sure, but it's 2 times more expensive (IS II version). All in all it's a fantastic lens. Some people call it "Canons best zoom lens".

I have used it with my 40D for years. It's a great lens. Some of my shots on here have been made with that combo.

I use it almost for everything on my 70D, as I have only L and 10-18 STM lenses. It´s wonderful and I love it. Well invested money.

But sometimes, IS is missing, not so much, but I´m not Iron man, so some photos are not usable :-D

Most of my shots on here are from the exact same lens. It can at times be a little short, but it is very sharp. I use it on with my 7D and its very seldom of it.
