How can I make these effects (aircraft with black or white background)?

Hi Samuel,

It's easy and simply to do. Select the background (sky or whatever) and add a solid color layer mask with black or white colour, and that's it!

Usually to adapt and balance the image and the atmosphere, you add a "Curves" or "Level" layer to lighten or darken, depending of the chosen colour.

Advice:

Use Pen tool (it's better than Magic Wand and Lasso)

When you have selected the background, Ctrl + Alt + R to open "Refine Edge", this adjust will allow a clean and soft selection.

That's all! :)
