By the way, I've never seen this before: The inboard engines' contrails trail around the
outer ones and actually end up to the side of those! Awesome to see the effects of the
vortices.

Yes indeed Jeffrey, and for some reason the contrails from engines 1 and 4 tend to
'disappear' instead of mixing in with the inner ones. The magic of flying :)

Awesome photo. We do this at my airline too. I was also interested as to why the inboard
contrails evaporate so much sooner than the outboard. The outer ones seem to be much more
strongly effected by the downwash.
