Starting the Nord is a complicated business. The engine is turned over by compressed air, which is stored in an accumulator in the rear of the aircraft. There is only enough gas for one engine start before it has to be re-charged. When the engine is running an on-board compressor will recharge the accumulator. The brakes are also pneumatic, you are well advised not to stand in front of this aircraft when starting up. Note the small puff of smoke from the leading exhaust stub and the pool of fuel on the ground.
