I need help with my camera settings and as the title may said, how to get the aircraft in sharp! I'm always very excited to go planespotting and when I get home and see the pictures, sure there are some good pictures but 75% of my pictures are pictures where the aircraft isn't sharp.
The settings I mostly use (wich I don't think is the problem) are Quility: Fine WB: Auto ISO: 200 (or lower) AF-C Shutter Speed: always between 500 and 1250 F8
If you have any tips for the way I have to take photo's to get the planes in sharp, please tell me and if you have any corrections please tell me as well, I have a Nikon D5100 btw

You checked another lens with your camera ? Maybe the problem isn't in the camera, just in the lens ? |

Well I did bought a new lens a Tamron 70-300mm F/4 5.6 DI but i didn't use it yet, I used a Nikkor 55-200mm but I don't see whats the problem with both of the lenses! I know the Tamron isn't the best but it takes nice pictures when it isn't raining, but I need tips on how to get the aircraft sharp aswell! Thanks for responding! |

Shooting in RAW will be a very good idea. And stay on F8. ISO 100 or 200. I think it might work better, if you to go down to S=1/320 or even S=1/250. instead of going down to F6.3 or F5.6. Just my opinion :o) |

In JPG or RAW is no difference in sharpness visible, but RAW can help in difficult lightconditions and postprocessing of the image.
With those Objectivs I whould try Exposure Compensation -0.3 or -0.7 to improve the quality (works best in Picture Control NL), and on WB you should use the Weather you have.
